Fine quality handpainted Srikalahasti Kalamkari pen work handloom pure Bangalore silk saree with zari border. This exquisite saree is created with Srikalahasti style of kalamkari, wherein the “kalam” or pen is used for freehand drawing of the subject and filling in the colors. It is entirely hand worked using natural colors. Kalamkari in Srikalahasti has been around for 200 years approximately. Unlike other places where this particular craft is practiced, artists in Srikalahasti retain the ancient techniques of dyeing which have been passed down from generations. As it is hand-painted/handcrafted, color spread and irregularity in design are common, hence it won’t be considered as damaged or defective.
